Davis's stylistic figuration employs a kind of pixelation/pointillist hybridization that references photography while highlighting painterly brushstrokes. In Kodak’s version used for calibrating skin tones during film processing starting in the 50s, darker complexions were disregarded and set the tone for the bias and prejudices of society as a whole. WebJeremy Okai Davis is a Portland, Oregon based portraiture artist who works mainly in acrylics on canvas. His illustrations have appeared in American Songwriter Magazine. You can see a recently completed mural of his in downtown Portland on SW 10th Avenue, with another upcoming at the University of Oregon’s Journalism School.
